FAQs

Where do we source our Information?

You may be wondering where we source the information on our site, and how you can be sure our advice and pathways are legitimate.

All our information is sourced from reputable resources such as The Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, the Australian Medical Association, Engineering Australia, and other specific sources.

We also speak to students and professionals in each field and discuss their experience and knowledge, which we cross-check with our other resources.

How do I use the Interactive Maps?

On a desktop computer, laptop or tablet, the interactive maps are as easy as pointing to something you want to learn more about, and clicking on it. This will take you to the relevant page or section.

On mobile, it may be tricky to click on the map without zooming in. You may select ‘View Full Size’ below the visual pathway to open it in a new window, in which you can zoom in and click on the sections that interest you.

Can I Request a Pathway?

Yes! We are consistently adding information and content to the site, so please tell us what you would like to see next by subscribing to our mailing list, or contacting us directly.

What makes you qualified to assess which of a person's characteristics are complementary or prohibitive to a certain field?

The information for the skills shown for each specialisation is collated from discussions with students and professionals in the field, and double checked against government-issued job resources and census info. There are also some skills taken directly from those governmental sources.

Why are you doing this for free?

We do this because we also struggled with choosing the right career.

What really helped us was meticulously researching the fields we were interested in so we could make an informed decision.

We shared these resources with our friends at university and found it helped them get a full picture of which direction they wanted to take their career after graduating.

We’re publishing these resources for free (and they will always be free), but we have plans for premium content down the track.
